Pancreatic Cancer
Pancreatic cancer is a type of cancer that originates in the pancreas, an organ located behind the stomach that produces enzymes for digestion and hormones such as insulin. The exact cause of pancreatic cancer is unknown, but potential risk factors include older age, smoking, obesity, a family history of pancreatic or other types of cancer, chronic pancreatitis, diabetes, and certain genetic conditions. Symptoms of pancreatic cancer may include abdominal pain, weight loss, jaundice, nausea, vomiting, and changes in bowel habits. Diagnosis is typically made through imaging tests and biopsy, and treatment may involve surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, depending on the stage and characteristics of the cancer. Pancreatic cancer is often aggressive and has a poor prognosis, but early detection and treatment can improve outcomes.
