Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the cells of the lungs. The main cause of lung cancer is tobacco smoking, but other risk factors include exposure to secondhand smoke, radon gas, air pollution, and occupational exposure to certain chemicals. Symptoms of lung cancer may include coughing, chest pain, shortness of breath, unexplained weight loss, and coughing up blood. Diagnosis is typically made through imaging tests and biopsy, and treatment may involve surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy, depending on the stage and characteristics of the cancer. Quitting smoking and avoiding exposure to lung cancer risk factors can help reduce the risk of developing lung cancer.
