Liver Cancer
Liver cancer, also known as hepatocellular carcinoma, is a type of cancer that develops in the cells of the liver. The main risk factors for liver cancer include chronic infection with hepatitis B or C virus, heavy alcohol consumption, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, obesity, and exposure to certain chemicals. Symptoms of liver cancer may include abdominal pain or swelling, jaundice, unexplained weight loss, and fatigue. Diagnosis is typically made through imaging tests and biopsy, and treatment may involve surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy, depending on the stage and characteristics of the cancer. Preventive measures such as vaccination against hepatitis B and avoiding excessive alcohol consumption can help reduce the risk of developing liver cancer.
