Immune Disorders
Immune disorders refer to a group of conditions in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's healthy tissues and organs. The causes of immune disorders are not well understood, but genetic factors, infections, and environmental triggers may play a role. Some common types of immune disorders include autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and type 1 diabetes, as well as immunodeficiency disorders like HIV/AIDS and primary immunodeficiency diseases. Risk factors for developing immune disorders include a family history of the condition, exposure to environmental triggers, and certain viral infections. Treatment options depend on the specific disorder and may include medications to suppress the immune system, immunoglobulin replacement therapy, or bone marrow transplant.
