Extrusion
Extrusion is a potential complication of mesh implants, where the mesh material breaks through the skin or tissue and becomes exposed. This can cause pain, inflammation, infection, and may require surgical removal of the mesh. Potential causes of extrusion include surgical technique, material selection, and postoperative infection. Risk factors for extrusion include obesity, smoking, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders.
