Erosion
Erosion is a potential complication of mesh implants, which occurs when the mesh material breaks down and protrudes through surrounding tissue or organs. This can cause pain, infection, and other complications. Risk factors for mesh erosion include previous surgeries in the area, underlying medical conditions, and surgical technique. The use of certain types of mesh material may also increase the risk of erosion. Symptoms of erosion may include pain, discomfort, discharge, and bleeding. Treatment may involve removal of the mesh and surgical repair of the affected tissue.
