Cholecystectomy
A cholecystectomy is a medical procedure performed to eliminate the gallbladder, a pear-shaped organ located just below the liver on the upper right side of the abdomen. This organ is responsible for accumulating and storing a digestive fluid produced by the liver, known as bile.
Cholecystectomy is a frequently conducted surgical procedure and is generally considered safe, carrying only a minimal risk of complications. In many cases, this surgery is minimally invasive, involving small incisions, and patients can often return home on the same day of their cholecystectomy.
